Special Saturday Seminars
Denton Community Theatre hosts occasional Saturday seminars for interested adults covering a variety of theatre related topics. We are fortunate to have many talented and skilled performers and technicians willing to share their knowledge. Past topics have included stage movement, set painting, producing, stage management, vocal training for speaking and singing, and many more. Seminars are generally held at the Campus Theatre from 1pm to 3pm and are free to attend.
All Special Saturday programs are free, but reservations are suggested for this seminar, and space is limited. Please contact Julie Brinker at 940 382-7014 or email thedctteam@campustheatre.com if you are interested in leading a seminar.
Play Readers and Writers of Denton
**This program on hiatus until Sept. 1, 2020
This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. No reservation or advanced notice of attendance needed. This is an informal gathering that decides on a play to read aloud that evening. If a DCT audition is coming up, that play is usually selected for the evening’s reading.
Playwrights of Denton will resume on the third Tuesday of each month, if there are playwrights who want to have something read. If you have something you’d like to have read, please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com a couple of weeks in advance, if possible.
DCT Roadshow
DCT RoadShow actors perform Story Theatre for young audiences in the Denton area. They are led by Julie Brinker, DCT Outreach Director, who holds an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Child Drama. What is Story Theatre? It is a performance format that combines storytelling and traditional theatre performance. A (traditionally) small, flexible cast narrates and acts out several stories, songs, and/or poems using puppets, audience participation, and traditional theatrical conventions. The result is a fast-moving and excitingly interactive experience for both audience and actors. Set, costumes and props are minimal.
