Meet the Teachers

Amanda Carson Green

Hey y’all! I’m so very excited to be joining Theatre School and Theatre Denton as Education Coordinator. I did my first show with then Denton Community Theatre in 2003, and am beyond thrilled to be coming home to the Theatre Denton family. I attended the University of North Texas and have over 20 years of experience with a focus on acting, directing and costuming.

I was a founding member of Vibrant Dreams Acting Company who taught youth theatre through local community groups and summer camps for 5 years. Theatre is my passion and joy and I truly believe it holds the power to positively impact our community and better us as individuals. I’m a mom to 2 very active teenage boys, Carson (16) and Logan (13) and have been married to my amazing husband, Jason, for 18 years. I cannot wait to get to know all of you better as we learn and have fun discovering theatre and all its magic.

Sabrina Hall

Sabrina Hall is thrilled to be a teacher for Theatre Denton Theatre School! After receiving her first degree from the University of North Texas in Computer Science, she returned to school for Theater Arts and Secondary Education. After receiving her certification, she began her teaching career as a Middle School Theater Director at Chisholm Trail Middle School.

The next year, she had the opportunity to teach in Denton at Strickland and Crownover Middle Schools. As a theater director, she directed numerous plays, prepared students for competition, was a member of the Texas Thespian Board and brought a group of students to perform at the Texas Thespian Festival. She also worked as a UIL One Act Play critic judge. After the arrival of her first child, and wanting to spend more time at home, she had the opportunity to work in an elementary school as a creative drama teacher. She taught creative drama at Camey Elementary in The Colony for 10 years.

She is now back in Denton, teaching Special Education at Sam Houston Elementary. While her work at Sam Houston brings her joy, there has always been a part of her that longed for the days of teaching theater. Teaching at Theatre Denton is the ideal remedy!

Carley Walker

Carley is so happy to be back in a theatre after a hiatus caused by the pandemic. She’s recently moved to Denton and cannot wait to dive into the local theatre community here! She received her BFA in Drama from the University of Oklahoma in 2014 with a focus in Acting and Lighting Design.

Over the last (almost) decade she has worked for a variety of theatre companies in Charlotte North Carolina, Chicago Illinois, and now Denton Texas. She will be teaching Acting and Technical theatre classes here at Theatre Denton!

Went to see Carrie the Musical. Very talented group, and I loved the theatre itself.

We've seen several slows at this theater and have always enjoyed them. The acting has always been good and the sets and costumes are well done. The theater itself is well designed so you won't get a bad seat. I do recommend arriving early as it is tricky to find parking.

I saw Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (CATCF) at Theater Denton on Sunday. What a fun way to spend a couple of hours on a hot summer day. Cool theater off the square. Much of it in its original glory. The over all production was fantastic. The singing, acting and the MUSIC 🎵, all exceeded my expectations. The music was exceptional. Such talented artists. A friend of mine played violin in the performance. She played beautifully. I was actually moved to tears during the show as I was transported back to fond memories of my youth, and to my childhood memories of CATCF. Our seats were perfect for viewing characters across the stage. I didn’t see a bad seat (obstructed) in the house. Parking - Denton can be tricky, especially The Square, and weekends. Come early so you’re not stressing over finding a spot (like I did). They sell snacks and beverages (alcoholic & nonalcoholic) at the concession store. They take cash and credit cards. There’s a cute little WONKA CANDY SHOP spot for photo ops inside the lounge. Candy props and all! Final thought- I expected the theater to be freezing inside. It wasn’t. It was cool enough inside to make me forget about the extreme heat outside. ☺️ This was my first time attending a show at Theater Denton. I’m looking forward to the upcoming shows I’ll see next.

My husband and I enjoyed the production of Jesus Christ SuperStar. Wonderful community production with an extremely talented cast! We also loved the historical theater and the vintage vibe. Free parking was easier to find than we expected!

We love seeing shows at Campus as well as at the Annex at the mall. I would recommend y'all set up a separate Google listing for your mall location with location details for out of towners. Specifically letting them know about the back door entrance & parking. It will go a long way in getting the word out about entertainment options on that side of town if it pops up in google & map searches!
