Auditions – Annie

Denton Community Theatre is holding auditions for Annie,  Book by Thomas Meehan; Music by Charles Strouse; Lyrics by Martin Charnin; Based on Little Orphan Annie by permission of the Media Tribune Services, Inc.  Directed by John Evarts, auditions will be held on Feb. 3, 4 at 7:00pm at the Campus Theatre located at 214 W. Hickory in Denton.

About the show:

The beloved musical tells the story of a plucky orphan’s adventures as she escapes from the evil Miss Hannigan and finds a place to belong with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his secretary, Grace and a dog named Sandy. Family friendly fun for ages 4 and up.

Auditions are open – no appointments.  Resumes and headshots are appreciated, but not required. Auditioners Should Prepare 16-32 Bars–Preferably Something From A Broadway Musical–Which Best Demonstrate The Auditioners’ Vocal Range.

Auditioners MUST Bring Sheet Music–Clearly Marked With Minimal Page Turns–For The Accompanist. Auditioners Should Come Dressed For Movement And Be Prepared For Cold Readings From The Script

Roles available:

Annie

A street-wise orphan; she is eventually taken in by Oliver Warbucks. Spunky, friendly, big-voiced.

Age: 10 to 12

Warbucks

A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish.

Gender: Male

Age: 40 to 55

Grace Farrell

Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle.

Gender: Female

Age: 20 to 35

Vocal range top: G5

Orphans

The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and potentially loveable. Includes Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy.

Gender: Female

Age: 6 to 13

Servants

The servants at the Warbucks mansion. Includes Drake, Mrs. Pugh, Mrs. Greer, Cecille, and Annette.

Gender: Both

Age: 20 to 50

Miss Hannigan

The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold.

Rooster

Miss Hannigan’s no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man.

Lily

Rooster’s girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy and bimbo.

Bert Healy

The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents.

The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks.

Performances are March 29, 30 & Apr. 4, 5, 6, 2019 at 7:30pm and March 31 & April 7, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Campus Theatre.
