Please check the rehearsal schedule linked on our website to check for conflicts so that you can mark those at the audition.

Auditioners are requested to prepare a song cut, approx. 1 minute, that shows your range and melodic ability in a classical music theatre style, and prepare four or five sentences about yourself to share during the audition. There will be readings from the script and movement segments. Clearly readable paper music for the pianist is required. We perform with a live orchestra, so please do not plan to audition with a recording. You will love our pianists!

Roles: Maria, Capt. Von Trapp, Mother Abbess, Max Detweiler, Baroness Elsa, Rolf, Liesl, 6 younger Von Trapp children, Sisters Bertha, Margaretta, and Sophia, a chorus of nuns (SSAA), servants Frau Scmidt & Franz, party guests who waltz, Admiral & Frau Schreiber, Herr & Frau Zeller.

The younger Von Trapp children rehearse for 40 minutes, three nights a week for the first few weeks. Two Saturday afternoon rehearsals are planned, depending on availability of the children.

There are 7 Von Trapp children, who appear to be these ages:

Liesl (16)

Friederick (14)

Louisa (13)

Kurt (11)

Brigitta (10)

Marta (7)

Gretl (5)

In addition to the 1-minute cut of a song and the four or five autobiographical sentences, it is optional to look over some excerpts of songs from the show to become familiar with the style of the music. Excerpts (optional) are posted.

We welcome you to auditions for THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
