Auditions for A Delicate Balance by Edward Albee will be held at the Theatre Denton Annex inside Golden Triangle Mall on Dec. 9, 10, 2024 at 7pm.
We welcome and encourage all actors who are interested in auditioning to do so, regardless of gender identity, race, or background. All roles are open to everyone, even where the script may suggest specific character attributes.
Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin on December 16th with a break during Christmas week. While we will do our best to accommodate individual schedules, the rehearsal process will likely follow a Monday-Friday evening schedule. Please note that not all actors will be called to every rehearsal depending on needs.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Roles available:
TOBIAS (M, Late 50s- Early 70s): Tobias is Agnes’s husband and the father of Julia. He is a well-to-do, retired businessman. Although he is tolerant of people around him, he, like his wife, tends to avoid emotional topics and often feels detached and removed.
AGNES (F, Late 40s-60s): Married to Tobias, well off. She is the mother of Julia and the sister of Claire. Agnes believes herself to be the fulcrum of the family, keeping everyone in balance. She worries about losing her mind and losing her center.
CLAIRE (F, 30s-50s): Claire is Agnes’s younger sister. She has been staying with them for some time now. She claims that she is not an alcoholic but rather a willful drinker. She speaks her mind and is the least affected by social politeness. She is unapologetically bold.
JULIA: (F, 20s-30s) Julia is the daughter of Agnes and Tobias. Three times divorced, she has recently left her fourth husband, and has returned home, which appears to be a cycle for her. She leans into the dramatic and reverts into childlike tantrums when challenged.
EDNA: (F, Late 40s-60s) Edna is married to Harry. Edna and Harry are Agnes and Tobias’s close friends and neighbors. Edna arrives one day at the door of Agnes and Tobias’s home desperate to stay due to an indescribable fear that has washed over her and Harry. God mother to Julia. Somewhat of a reflection of Agnes.
HARRY: (M, Late 50s- Early 70s) Harry is Edna’s husband and Tobias’s best friend. Harry is something of a reflection of Tobias, but he is even more reserved. A man of few words and generally very careful in the ways he navigates the world.
Performances will be at the Campus Theatre February 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 2025.
